Prayers for November 2009


During this month, Lutheran Bible Translators asks that you lift these following requests up in prayer.

  • Praise God for Paul and Grace Closius's September visit to the LBT Service Center, where their ongoing ministry was celebrated with a worship service and luncheon.
  • Praise that the Rudowske family has settled in the village of Kang, Botswana and is making a good beginning in ministry to the Shekgalagarhi people.
  • Pray for Jim Laesch as he visits partners in Sierra Leone and Liberia this month.
  • Pray for Kedra Kinney as she continues her time in Sierra Leone, leading Song workshops.
  • Pray for Caleb, Jacob, and Seth Rodewald as they write their final exams at school. These exams will account for 70% of their grades.
  • Pray for LIBTRALO's annual meeting, taking place today.
  • Pray for Paul and Ali Federwitz as they leave Ghana to begin their furlough. They plan to return to Ghana early in 2011.
  • Pray for Kory and Cara Fay as they continue language learning at l'Institut Français des Alpes and prepare for their assignment in Cameroon.
  • Pray that the new Komba (Ghana) executive committee will be successful in improving literacy and translation work through fundraising and oversight.
  • Praise God for the ministry of Evelyn Horn, Congregational Representative to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Iowa Park, Texas.
  • Pray for former missionary kids and other family members who are serving our country in the armed forces.
  • Pray for Kim Acton, Ranae Holdeman, Cacia Scheler, and Nicole Cruetz, who are in the application process to become volunteer missionaries with LBT.
  • Pray for the Federwitz family as Christina Riddle prepares to leave next month. Her departure leaves Valerie to lead school and care for the younger children by herself.
  • Praise God for the ministry of Bill and Diane Eckermann, who are assisting a group of Sudanese refugees living in Australia to revise their Scripture in the Ma'di language.
  • Praise that the typesetting of the Ikwerre New Testament (Nigeria) is complete.
  • Pray for Carl and Melody Knight as they begin thinking about their transition into retirement next year.
  • Pray for Peg Seitz, who has moved back to Illinois to care for her husband John, whose health is in serious decline.
  • Praise God for a substantial grant given by the Freewill Charitable Trust to the LBT International Scholarship Program.
  • Pray for the formation of a good Khwe Translation Committee (Botswana).
  • Pray as plans are made for Jonathan and Nancy Burmeister to begin a remote assignment so they may continue their ministry to the people of Mali as Jonathan continues his recovery here in the USA.
  • Pray for wisdom and discernment for Marshall Gillam, LBT's Executive Director.
  • Pray for the Jonathan Federwitz, Paul Federwitz, and DeLoach families as Paul and Ali visit Papua New Guinea this month.
  • Pray for Joel Kaiser, who joined the National Guard over the summer.
  • Praise that the Kalanga Old Testament is about 50% complete, and pray that it will be ready for printing by December 2014.
  • Pray for wisdom in the analysis of the Obe Language Survey, as future translation needs are determined for these languages.
  • Thank God for His abundant blessings on LBT, and for LBT missionaries and partners.
  • Pray for Jim Pindras as makes plans for representing LBT throughout the United States next year.
  • Pray for healing for Dan Finley, who is undergoing physical therapy following shoulder surgery.
  • Pray for the Esala family as they plan for their 2010 furlough.
  • Pray that LIBTRALO can find funding for a Mother Tongue Teacher Refresher Workshop which will be held the first two weeks in January.
