Tim and Lisa are trained and equipped for cross-cultural Bible translation ministry and began their first assignment with LBT among the Khwe people of Botswana in July 2005.
Tim graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in May 2003 and was ordained at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond NE. Prior to attending the seminary, Tim was a pork producer for fourteen years in southern Minnesota. He served as a volunteer missionary with the LCMS for one year in Slovakia, teaching English as a Foreign Language at the Lutheran High School of Tisovec. Tim and his wife Lisa met while serving as missionaries in Tisovec and were later married there.
Lisa was born and grew up in Papua New Guinea, where her parents were missionaries. Her father was the advisor for the New Testament translation into the Enga language. Returning to the States at age 17, she attended St. Louis University, receiving a degree in Aeronautical Administration. She served for three years as a volunteer missionary in Slovakia, and worked on the seminary campus for several professors while Tim was attending seminary.
On January 27th, 2005, Tim and Lisa were blessed with their first child, Aaron. Andrew joined the family in 2007.
Tim and Lisa's experience struggling to understand while worshipping in a Slovak congregation has made them acutely aware of the need to have Scripture in one's own language. This experience in Slovakia really touched their hearts, and has led them to serve as translators with LBT.
