Rob, a Vernacular Media Specialist and Ethnomusicologist, has a BA in English with a journalism emphasis from Westmont College (1991) and credentials in Visual Communication (1995), Bible (1997), and Applied Linguistics (2004). He has also certification as a vernacular media specialist (2005) and graduate level training in ethnomusicology (2005). Prior to appointment with Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT), Rob worked as a freelance graphic designer in the Seattle, WA area. With a lifelong interest in music and audio technology, Rob has served his local church as a musician and sound technician and produced albums for a diverse range of musicians. He has served as a short-term missionary in Ecuador, Mexico, and Wales. His vernacular media projects have included audio recordings and songwriting workshops with the Naro (Botswana), Dhimba and Khoekhoegowab (Namibia).
Eshinee, a Translation Advisor, grew up in Newfoundland, Canada. After a short missions term with Youth With A Mission in Haiti, she became aware of the international need for Bible translation and began to pursue information on how she might serve in this field. She obtained a BA in Linguistics from Trinity Western University (2001) in Canada. She met Rob during this time of training and they married after her graduation. Eshinee has received graduate level training in linguistics (2004), Biblical Greek (2005) and exegetical principles (2006). She also served as a teaching assistant at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary for Greek (2006).
Together, they met with an LBT recruiter and began the application process. Rob completed the Certificate in Applied Linguistics program at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics in 2004 while Eshinee also attended GIAL, taking graduate-level courses with a Bible translation skill-set emphasis. They continue to welcome prayer and financial supporters as they build their support team and are currently on their first LBT field assignment in Botswana. Rob is working in worship music development with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Botswana. Eshinee is working with the Yeyi language project as a New Testament exegete.
