Jonathan and Nancy Burmeister

Jonathan and Nancy Burmeister

Jonathan and Nancy have been members of Wycliffe Bible Translators and associate members of Lutheran Bible Translators since 1971. They began their work among the Anyi people in C“te d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in 1973. In addition to raising five children on the mission field, they trained a team of Anyi coworkers as literacy teachers and Bible translators. They completed the New Testament and parts of the Old Testament in the Anyi Sanvi dialect as well as building the Alpha Bible Center where they trained translators and literacy workers for several other Anyi dialects and related languages. In September 2002, they were evacuated from a war zone in C“te d'Ivoire and relocated to Bamako, Mali. Jonathan serves as a literacy and translation consultant. Nancy serves in the field administration. They are currently on remote assignment based in West Chicago, Illinois, as Jonathan recovers from a blood stem cell transplant.
