Danny and Rebecca DeLoach

Danny and Rebecca DeLoach (Anna, Joshua, and Wesley)

Danny and Rebecca met while attending the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics (GIAL) in Dallas, Texas. Danny was preparing to return to an assignment in Papua New Guinea and Rebecca was about to begin her first overseas assignment. Their plans changed as they grew to know one another and they were married July 14, 2001.

Danny grew up in rural, south Georgia. He became interested in missions while attending Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. Upon graduation he became a short-term member of Wycliffe Bible Translators and spent three years in Papua New Guinea. The experience changed his life and he returned to GIAL to train for a career assignment.

Rebecca grew up in Liberia, West Africa, daughter of LBT missionaries Dale and Alvina Federwitz. Through her childhood experiences, she developed a desire that all people would be able to hear God's message of love and forgiveness in their own language. After graduating from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska, Rebecca spent four years teaching second grade in Lutheran schools. Although she loved teaching children, Rebecca continually felt called to serve as a literacy teacher overseas.

Danny and Rebecca are members of Wycliffe Bible Translators and associate members of Lutheran Bible Translators. They serve in Papua New Guinea among the Wantoat people in the areas of Scripture use and literacy - helping people encounter Christ through understanding and applying Scripture to their daily lives. They are also very involved in Scripture Use ministry throughout PNG, specifically focusing on promoting the use of mother tongue Scriptures as part of the training for pastors in Bible schools and seminaries. Based in Ukarumpa, they make frequent stays at their village home in the highlands of PNG. Danny and Becca have been blessed with three children, Anna (2004),Joshua (2006), and Wesley (2011).
