Dan and Kay Finley are the Eastern Region Representatives for Lutheran Bible Translators. They are also vernacular media specialists and live in Roaming Shores, OH.
Lutheran Bible Translators partners with individuals, churches, and organizations in the United States and other countries to promote Bible translation, literacy and scripture engagement. The Finleys are speaking throughout the eastern part of the United States to increase the awareness of Lutheran Bible Translators and its global ministry.
Throughout the world millions of people still have not heard the message of salvation from God's Word. In those language groups where a New Testament has been completed, many of the people are not applying those translated Scriptures to their daily lives.
Often the problem is one of literacy. Vernacular media addresses this need by developing materials with an emphasis on audio and video rather than printed words. Non-readers are becoming interested in recorded New Testaments, Bible stories, and songs as well as Bible story videos and flip charts. The result is a renewed interest in hearing God's Word and applying it to their lives.
Dan and Kay are also working with translation, literacy, and scripture engagement teams worldwide to stimulate interest within the indigenous churches and encouraging them to use their mother tongue Scriptures.
